Congratulations to our middle school thespians who traveled to Keystone Heights for the District I Junior Thespian Festival on November 16.

Zola Ray received “Superior” ratings in solo musical theater and playwriting, and an excellent rating for her monologue. “Excellent” rating were also earned by Katie Rusmisell (scene design), the team of Mitchell Mullen and Emily Cumper (pantomime), the team of Sancia Birck and Jeremie Speer (improv), and the small group musical cast of “It’s a Pig!”—Cyrus Countryman, Zola Ray, Sancia Birck, Jeremie Speer, Mitchell Mullen, Emily Cumper, and Jaron Davis.

The one-act play was well-received by the judges, who noted many times how impressed they were with how well the case handled the difficult text of Macbeth, and gave the group high marks for pacing, staging, design, and fight choreography.

Students who received Superior and Excellent ratings are eligible to perform at the state festival, February 7 and 8 in Melbourne.
